What methods of security through obscurity does your school employ?

Question:

What methods of security through obscurity does your school employ? How do these methods increase security? How do they decrease security?

Answer:

Security through obscurity is a form of security measure that one can practice or believe to secure or protect data considering the fact that the perpetrator would get confused and discouraged.

For an instance, some group of people use certain codes to set a password and then hide the password in a script or binary file which in fact would be extremely difficult for the hacker to figure out. Security through obscurity can be termed as pseudo-security.

The issue lies when one from the group resigns the organization and joins another and shares the password format with others; as a result, the security would be at stake. Once the security mode is disclosed that would imply failure from security through obscurity technique.
