Government to set up 75 science technology and innovation hubs
The federal government will organize 75 Science Knowledge and Innovation (STI) hubs across the country exclusively for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) to advertise scientific expertise and contribute to the socio-economic development of those communities. Contribution can be made, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday.
Singh said the decision was taken after a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) here.
“Within the last two years, 20 STI hubs (13 for SCs, seven for STs) have already been set up by DSTs, which through various interventions can instantly benefit 20,000 SCs and STs, across the farm. , non-farm, can spread to various allied livelihood sectors. and various livelihood assets like vitality, water, health, training, and many others,” he mentioned.
He said that 75 STI Hubs would be set up entirely in the country for SCs and STs with the objective of developing, nurturing and ensuring the supply of acceptable and related applied sciences for creation of sustainable livelihoods for SC and ST residents. .
The mention of the Union Minister of State (Fair Cost) Science and Technology will be tripled mainly in the STI centres.
The primary is to tackle the weakest ties within key livelihood technologies through science and information (S&T) interventions, the second is the creation of social enterprises based mostly on strengths in livelihood technologies and the last is to enhance indigenous information methods . (IKS) through inputs of science and technology to strengthen livelihoods.
